The Inter-laboratory Comparison on Manganese and Permanganate Index in Water (2020), conducted by Water Quality Analysis Laboratory, RCEES, CAS, was successfully completed in May 2021. Both the Certificate and the Notice of the Testing Results for this Inter-laboratory Comparison have been distributed respectively to the participating laboratories. The Reports of the Inter-laboratory Comparison on Manganese and Permanganate Index in Water (2020) could be downloaded on the CEWE website (http://www.castwas-cewe.org/). 

This proficiency testing program is developed by National Certification and Accreditation Administration of China (CNCA) that actively responded to the "One Belt and One Road" initiative, and expanded the proficiency testing work to the countries along the "Belt and Road". Appreciated to the support of the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), Water Quality Analysis Laboratory undertook this activity for the second time since 2019. With the great support of CNCA, Centre of Excellence for Water and Environment of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the World Academy of Sciences (CEWE, CAS-TWAS), and the "One Belt One Road" Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO), a total of 21 inspection and testing institutes from 10 countries including Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Russia the Federation, Singapore, the Philippines, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Tunisia participated in 2020, and 42 domestic inspection and testing laboratories also actively responded.

Inter-laboratory Comparison is an effective way to improve the quality control system for the analytical laboratories through external measures, which becomes increasingly important in the background of globalization of world economy. The implementation of this program not only encourages the participating laboratories as well as the supervision and management departments to fully understand their capabilities in the same field of domestic and overseas laboratories, and then further enhance the cooperation of the certification and accreditation system, testing technology and quality control system and so on, but also contributes to subsequent bilateral and multilateral collaboration.
