2016 Water and Sanitation Training Program

CAS-TWAS Centre of Excellence for Water and Environment” (CAS-TWAS CEWE) is established in the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences (RCEES), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). It follows the direction of CAS and the World Academy of Sciences for the Advancement of Science in Developing Countries (TWAS). The goal of CEWE is to culture the professionals in the water and environmental fields for developing world through various training, education and joint research programs.

In 2016, the CEWE will initiate two types of training programs for water professionals from the developing and emerging countries, i.e., Short-term and Long-term. The training program consists of lectures, technical tour, workshop and other related events. The long-term will have additional 10 weeks internship in the laboratories. A network for the water professionals and researchers in developing countries will be reinforced through our continuing efforts. All expenses for approved applicants,including airfare, accommodation, registration and meals, will be covered by CAS-TWAS CEWE.

Notification of acceptance/rejection: 13 May, 2016

Invitation letter issued: After 23 June,2016

Short-term training period: 30 Aug (Tues),-13 Sep (Tues), 2016

Long-term trainingperiod: 30 Aug (Tues), - 25 Nov (Fri), 2016

Application and Selection Process


Applicants should be fulfilled with the following requirements:

Officials, researchers, managers in water engineering and management in the developing or emerging countries

Education background: master degree or above, or with bachelor degree and good professional experience

Below the age of 40, or those with sufficient professional experience below 45

Good language skill in English

Women are especially encouraged to apply
